One of the brightest soloists of the classical saxophone world, Javier Oviedo is acclaimed for his lustrous tone, passionate musicianship, and formidable technique. Co-founder of The Classical Saxophone Project he travels around the world to promote the “classical” repertoire of the saxophone. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Salle Cortot, and the United Nations, on 3 continents: the New Jersey Symphony, the Austin Symphony, Chattanooga, l’Orchestre à Cordes d’Ariége, the orchestras of Moldova and Oryol in Russia.
Javier, an accomplished chamber musician was a founding member of the Elision Quartet which toured China. He recorded a CD with the Orchestre Pasdeloup under the direction of Jean-Pierre Schmitt also “And So It Begins”, by Debra Kaye and “Lazy Afternoon” by Byron Bellows with St. Luke’s Orchestra in New York.
