Benoît Willmann -
Born in Paris, Benoît Willmann studied conducting in parallel with his work as an instrumentalist (clarinetist with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and professor at the HEM in Geneva) and graduated from the Geneva University of Music.
Equally at ease accompanying dancers, choirs and soloists (Sonya Yoncheva, Gautier Capuçon, Joel Marosi, Carine Sechaye, Philippe Cassard, François Guye, etc.), he has also created many works by young composers and assisted several conductors such as Armin Jordan, Stephan Asbury, Fabio Luisi, Klaus Weise and Jurjen Hempe.
Benoit Willmann directed the Geneva Sinfonietta, where he held the position of artistic director until 2018, the HEM orchestra of Geneva for the composition and orchestration classes, the Rhône orchestra, the Camerata du Leman , the orchestra of the Royal Opera of Wallonia, the symphony orchestra of Biel, the orchestra of the Cairo Opera, the Orquestra sinfônica da Bahia, the Brass Band du Loup, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, the ensemble Contrechamps, ensemble 2E2M, the Victor Hugo Franche-Comté Orchestra, the Lemanic Modern Ensemble and he collaborated for several years with the Youth Orchestra Of Bahia.
Also very interested in the theater, he collaborated with the director Omar Porras for the History of the Soldier of Stravinsky. He conducted Donizetti’s first Swiss Dom Sebastian King of Portugal, as well as Don Pasquale, Puccini’s La Boheme, Bizet’s Carmen, Aida, La Traviata and Il Trovatore.
Since 2018, Benoit Willmann has collaborated with the Orchester Victor Hugo Franche-Comté, the orchestra of Cannes Alpes Provence Côte d’Azur, the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève.
